Show Me The Primary Source v0.03

[ About Us ]

"SMTPS" or "Show Me The Primary Source" is a site built to act as a central database for what we believe is the most important piece of information: Sources. Sources are what can help people on either side of a topic make up their mind with information instead of opinions.

The end goal for this project is to eventually be a Wikipedia for anything which could be considered a controversial opinion or conspiracy theory, but with primary sources that can add important context to information. If all the information is in one central and searchable database then talking to people about certain claims can be easier, especially when they ask for the source. One of the biggest problems the "conspiracy theory / freedom" community face is having accurate sources and being able to find the source when asked about it.

Why Bother? Good question! Wikipedia is already a great database of information, but is heavily biased and has had certain topics manipulated by the CIA. Google is a great search engine, but it's global reach had seen it's search manipulated and cencored. DuckDuckGo is great as well, but then you're relying on remembering what to search to find a particular site. Alternative news sites and other sites like this may not have great search functions, may be lacking in certain categories and can only be edited by certain publishers.

Hopefully in time, this site can act as a source of sources to slow down governments around the world rushing to push through laws that allows them to establish a "ministry of truth".

We also create a local PDF archive which is available in the sources list where you see "Direct DL", this is to ensure if a linked page we use as a source ever changes, gets taken down or censored, we will always have a local copy we can go back on.

We also align heavily with Aaron Swartz (Learn more about Aaron Here). Aaron is a man who believes all information should be free and shared. We plan to make our entire database and all files downloadable once we have a sizable amount of data or if we receive enough requests.

Why the version numbers?
As we are making an entire system from the ground up, we change the version with each new change, when we finally reach V1, this will be when we can finally say the backend of the website is done and just focus on gathering information. Version 1.0 will be achieved once everything on the Site Upgrades Page is implemented.
